Summary
This post is about how my plan to create my digital nomad lifestyle took shape in one month. How do I think about this at Christmas 2024? You can read about my resolution for Hungary and also how I imagine my future in other parts of the world.
It’s Christmas Day, but this holiday is not the occasion to summarize my plans. In the conversations of the past few days and weeks, the question of how to continue has come up several times, so a few days ago I decided to prepare a summary of the current state of my plan. So now this article has been completed instead of decorating the Christmas tree.
My plan to implement a digital lifestyle consists of two packages. On the one hand, I am building my daughters’ lives in Hungary, and on the other hand, I am working out the details of my own world trip. Both packages are very important to me, which is why I will always have to think about Hungary.
Hungarian plans
I plan to leave Hungary without any intention of returning. I have an apartment in Győr and I will keep it. It is my older daughter’s home. I intend to keep the apartment for my two daughters, which is why I am keeping it. It is not an escape route for me, but it is still an important point in my life. The costs of maintaining the apartment make up part of my expenses in Hungary. The other part is provided by supporting my daughters’ university studies. In order to cover part of my expenses in Hungary, I will continue my Hungarian business so that I only have to create about half of these expenses while traveling the world.
I also formulated the idea that I should not be afraid if in years to come I suddenly wake up crying and have to come home to Hungary. If that happens, it will be clear then and there that this is the most suitable place for me. Then I will not be afraid to come home, because home will be here.
World plans
I want to be a digital nomad. To do this, I need a job that is location-independent, and once I find one, I can choose the country where I want to live almost freely. Initially, I want to look for a country where the cost of living is low, but is suitable for doing my work digitally.
According to my current plan, I will spend most of my first year in this country, and then go to another country for a few months, which may be a little more expensive. After that, I would go to a cheaper country again, and I also think it is possible that I will go to another country at that time. I imagine my first years with such changes.
Here I am now, basking in the light of the Christmas tree.
